Join our inaugural 3-3-3 Dressage Rider Clinics
Starting Saturday, 8 January, with coaches Annæ Buchmann, Margrete Erling and Kirrilly Thompson!
Clinic held at Yara Balba Stables in Mandalong NSW 2264.
Each clinic will run Saturday mornings, on the 8th, 15th and 22nd of January, from 9am-12pm noon. Each of those clinic includes 3 sessions of 45 minutes each with short breaks, with the 3 coaches team-teaching.
How does it work?
Week One- “FOUNDATIONS”: Saturday 8 January 2022, 9am-12pm
“Connecting” 9-10am (with a short break)
The first session is focusing on rider position, horse relaxation, riding simple actions precisely like stop, go turn, and mini transitions within the gaits (walk, trot, canter).
“Arena Movements” 10-11am (with a short break)
Basic arena movements- getting them right and accurate, learning how to ride or refine, plus the why, what, how to ride patterns correctly.
“Shoulder Mobility” 11-12pm
Exercises to test the suppleness of the horse and rider, to help identify hollow/ stiff sides, riders issues and set up for following clinic next week.
Wrap-up & Outlook
Week Two- “BUILDING BLOCKS” Saturday 15 January 2022, 9am-12pm
The second Saturday will build on and extend the learnings of the prior week; more details to come.
Week Three- “PUTTING IT ALL TOGETHER” Saturday 22 January 2022, 9am-12pm
The third Saturday once again builds on previous experience and lifts riders to a new level of understanding and practice; more details to come.
Cost per clinic Saturday- only $150* per horse and rider combination (*riding school horses extra). Riding positions are still available but limited. Please book now to secure your position and take advantage of the Covid-safe and private facilities, with a covered arena for weather protection, and a convenient location near the freeway exit.
More about the Coaching Team:
Dr. Annæ Buchmann is a multi-lingual horse trainer and coach specialising in sustainable horsemanship with a holistic approach based on Classical Dressage principles. Particular emphasis is placed on the ability of horse & rider to grow their confidence, gain an understanding of correct biomechanics and build a toolbox of exercises and resources. Annæ has competed in Dressage, Endurance, and Eventing, and performed in many displays & parades. Her research into Equine culture, leisure & tourism is shared in engaging talks & presentations, podcasts, and publications.
Ms. Margrete Erling is a Level One (General) Equestrian Australia and Level One Pony Club Australia accredited coach who also operates an Accredited Riding Centre under the banner of both peak equestrian bodies (EA & PCA). She travelled to China several times in 2019 training and assessing riders and coaches for China Pony Club. She has been coaching for over 20 years and been riding for more than 45 years (since a young child) and enjoys competing in Dressage and Eventing.
Dr. Kirrilly Thompson has been riding for 30 years, focussing on dressage but she has also been involved in showing and Pony Club. Kirrilly has been researching and writing about human-horse relations, horse behaviour and rider performance for over a decade and is a regular contributor to Horses and People Magazine. She is passionate about horse welfare and rider safety – from physical and emotional perspectives.
