Tuggerah Lakes Private Hospital Public Art- “Lake LIves”

This exciting private commission was completed and installed on site in 2019 and involved stakeholders from Kanwal Public School, Tuggerah Lakes Potters, Darkinyung Elder Bronwyn Chambers, Heathe-Care, Redeye Constructions, Central Coast Council and a number of contractors including Hydro Laser Cut, Gosford Quarries and more. You can find the work located outside at the entrance to Tuggerah Lakes Private Hospital in Kanwal NSW. The work explores the natural environment of Tuggerah Lakes and includes two large stainless steel and corten sculptures of Black Swans and a Cormorant drying its wings. There is also a stainless Steel  cutout of Whites Seahorse, a map of the lake system and a Cockatoo to be fund on the laser cut sandstone plinth. Hand made ceramic tiles made with the input of First Nations students from the neighbouring primary school, are inset into the sandstone walls detailing local endemic plants and their traditional medicinal uses. The pond contains local plant species that can be found along the lakes system shorelines, where the Black Swans may have nested and the Seahorses hidden. A plaque on site details the story. Inset aqua LED lights illuminate the works after dark, with a small fountain simulating the fluttering wings of the Swans chatting or bickering on the water.
